heinrich red wine review
Heinrich Red is produced by the Heinrich family in Burgenland, Austria. Heinrich is a leader in innovative Austrian wine production, and they produce wine using biodynamic methods. The wine is a blend of Austria’s big three native red wine grapes – 80% Zweigelt, 15% Blaufrankisch, and 5% Sankt Laurent – and is meant to be an introduction to the red wines of Austria.
There are plenty of red cherry and berry aromas on the nose of this wine, along with some spicy hints. The wine is light bodied, soft, and refreshing. There are plenty of juicy red fruit flavors, along with hints of baking spice and chocolate. I do recommend opening up and letting this wine breath a little bit for before serving, and it is perfectly okay to serve this red wine slightly chilled!
This wine normally costs around $15, and is one of the easier to find Austrian red wines. The blend is a pretty good representation of what Austrian red wine is all about. Austrian reds have been becoming more popular as people realize that they are yummy, fun wines. If you want to get in on the trend, pick up a bottle of this wine, and give it a try! If you like it, you can delve further into the fun world of Austrian wine!
heinrich red food pairing suggestions
The Heinrich Red has plenty of acidity, and it’s a great food pairing wine. With the juicy fruit flavors, there are a lot of directions you can go with a pairing, and it works with everything from chicken to pork to spicy food to mushroom dishes. I particularly love this wine with pork, so here are a few recipe suggestions for you to try!
Herb Crusted Pork Loin Roast – pictured above, this is an elegant but easy and affordable dinner. The fruitiness of the wine will be yummy with the earthy pork and herbs.
Pork Crown Roast – the most elegant of pork dishes, crown roasts are full of richly flavored pork flavor. The acidity and fruitiness of this wine is a great accompaniment.
Slow Cooker Apple & Onion Pork Loin – this recipe is a taste of fall, and the light, fruity flavors of the Heinrich balance off the rich sauce in this dish.
Spicy Bourbon Baby Back Ribs – the spicy sauce served with these ribs loves a zippy, acidic, fruity wine, and the Heinrich Red is a great pick!
Wine Enthusiast – 90 point rating for the 2015 vintage!
Red – Weingut Heinrich – notes and information from the producer.
Heinrich Red – Winebow – notes and information from the importer.
